Castle Drogo

Castle Drogo is a remarkable country house near Drewsteignton, set above the Teign Gorge with dramatic views over Dartmoor. It is best known for being the last castle built in England. It is made of Granite and designed by Edwin Lutyens. It was built in the 1910s and 1920s for Julius Drewe, a rich man who had links to the area and had decided to build a family home in Drewsteignton. The Castle Drogo name is such as the town derived its name from Drogo de Teigne. It is a Grade I listed building with formal gardens managed by the National Trust.

There is currently an appeal for Castle Drogo to repair some serious leaks that are damaging the property. See National Trust website for details
