Victorian country house with richly decorated interiors and garden with outstanding plant collection
Knightshayes Court is a Victorian country house in Tiverton. It was built for the Heathcoat-Amory family in the 19 century. John Heathcoat, originally lived in the Loughborough area and invented a machine for lace making. During a Luddite protest, his machine and production were destroyed, so he moved of his production and some workers to Tiverton. Knightshayes Court was designed by William Burges and is notable for it's stunning interiors and plant collections. It is now managed by the National Trust.
