Buckland in the Moor

Buckland in the Moor is a small picturesque village with thatched cottages that have appeared on countless calendars. Dartmoor has its own special appeal, but there is more to the village than that. There is a Norman church, made from local stone, parts of which date back to the 12th Century. There is a clock at the church which has My Dear Mother written on the clock face.

To celebrate the rejection of a revision of the book of common prayer in 1928, a local man Mr Whitley commissioned a stonemason to carve all of the 10 commandments into stone tablets. These are now on show at Buckland Beacon.

Also nearby is the Roundhouse Craft Centre.

As with so many places in Devon Buckland in the Moor has its own unique character.
