Combe Martin

Combe Martin is a nice village with a combe (cwm in celtic) (wooded valley) that leads to a rocky bay and a sandy beach. The village has a long history and the Martin was added to the name after the Norman family who lived in the manor.

It has a single long main street with a notable pub/ hotel called the Pack O’Cards built by a fortunate gambler to celebrate a card game. The Pack O Cards has 4 stories, each floor has 13 doors and there are 52 windows.

Combe Martin does have its own annual parade that is a variation on the Hobby Horse ceremony in which there is a character called the Earl of Rone based on a historical character who fled the area.

There is Combe Martin motorcycle museum and a wildlife and Dinosaur park nearby.
