The surrounding countryside is particularly good for walking and cycling – nearby Haldon Forest is criss-crossed with trails and there is even a cycle track to Exeter from Regent House itself – and the Exe estuary is great for sailing windsurfing and all manner of water sports with tuition for all levels of ability. Guided bird watching cruises are available river cruises run all year and Jurassic Coast cruises in summer. Some of Devon's famed resorts – Budleigh Salterton Seaton and Sidmouth as well as the 'English Riviera' resorts of Torquay Paignton and Brixham – and Dartmoor National Park's rugged beauty are a little futher afield. Shops and a pub serving food are within a 5 minute stroll.
