Cullompton

Cullompton is a small historic town in mid Devon approximately 25 miles North East of Exeter. It is situated on the River Culm and its name is possibly derived from the Irish Saint, St Columba who brought Christianity to the area in the 6th Century.

Cullompton still has some old buildings including a 15th Century church and the 16th century Cullompton Manor Housewhich is now the Manor House Hotel. William of Orange also marched through the town after landing at Brixham. The town was was also involved in the wool industry as was the rest of this part of Devon.

In recent years, Cullompton has seen some major development as a commuter town, but still manages to retain its charm and unspoilt character that continues to attract vistors who want to enjoy its lovely location in an uncommercialised setting.
