Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to the most common questions.

Q How do I use the site?

A You can browse with the menus on the left column which expand when there is more than one entry

Q Why is some writing blue?

A Everything in blue is a link either to other pages on Devon.net or elsewhere as described on that page.

Q Is this website secure for financial transactions?

A This website is not secure as no transactions take place on it. All bookings are through our reputable partners who are all established companies with secure websites and telephone call centres.

Q Are the cottages on a separate website?

Q Why should I use your website if you use other booking partners?

A We use a number of different booking partners, each with their own specialities and so we can offer you a wider choice of accommodation than any of them individually can offer you.

A There are a large number of cottages and it was easier to list them on www.Cottages.uk.net which uses a different system. On the Cottages / Self Catering details pages, the Devon.net and Cottages.uk.net logos are combined and both are owned by the same company.

Q What are the icons for?

A The icons and the words next to them are active links.

Q Should I register

A It is important to register with Devon.net if you book a holiday through our website, so we can keep a record of who books through us. We currently mostly use Affiliates / Partners / Owners for our listings, who will deal with you directly and while we do our best to ensure everything is as it should be, should you have any problems, we would like to be in a position to help you if necessary.

We will soon be sending monthly email newsletters, so also register if you are interested in receiving those.

Q How do I search?

A Searching is the quickest way to find things, but it is best to be specific. i.e if you are looking for a hotel near Torquay, type "torquay hotel". If you just type "torquay" all attractions, town information and hotels will also appear. Another tip is not to use full stops or apostrophes as the website has been designed for clean urls and sometimes punctuation can become an issue. So type ottery st mary rather than Otter St. Mary. Even mary will work.

Q Why can't I find a specific cottage or other item?

A We are new and still under development email us and we will track them down.

Q Do you have a brochure or brochures that you can send me?

A No we are not currently able to send out any brochures. As the website develops, you will not need any brochures, however if you require some in the short term, email us and we can point you in the right direction.

Q Is Devon.net owned by the Devon Tourist Board or other official body?

A No, Devon.net is privately owned and has no links to any official organisation.
