Great Western Hotel

The Great Western is a privately owned, charming, elegant Victorian villa delightfully situated in the heart of Agatha Christie country. At the harbour end of Paignton, it can only be described as one of the finest of its size in the town. The hotel has with one of the best collections of model railways, steam engines, ships and vintage toys to be found anywhere. The hotel is just 100 yards from the beach, town centre, and railway, steam, bus and coach stations. Babbacombe Model Village is two miles away; it is three miles to Torquay. Brixham amd Galmpton, four miles to Totnes and 15 miles to Exeter Airport. Yalberton Industrial Estate and South Devon College are both one mile away and easily reached catching Bus 12A from the bus station. We offer free parking spaces on a first come first served basis and there is unrestricted off road parking on Sands Rd in front of the hotel. The hotel has free WiFi connection and fax services. It is our contention that few others are equal in any aspect of the hotel,in catering or hospitality. Our aim is to provide our guests with a friendly and personal service - they prove we achieve this by returning year after year. Please Note: We have a strict No-Smoking Policy. We do not accept stag or hen groups. Regrettably, we cannot accept pets. Regrettably we have no cots available. Family Rooms are priced for two adults and one child up to age 12. Children between 13 -16 years old are charged 3/4 of the adult price. We have a fairly large freezer to keep your fish when you go Mackerel fishing at the Harbour. There is a clothes -line in the back garden to hang your wet towels, swim- suit /fishing gear / lilo. etc.Leave your car and catch the bus, boat or ferry for your sightseeing trips. There are numerous coastal walks and cycle paths. Try Mackerel or Wreck fishing at the harbour or catch the Steam train from Paignton to historic Dartmouth, a trip not to be missed.
