The Chasers is a picture-postcard 16th century pub in the heart of tiny Stokeinteignmouth just fifteen minutes out of Torquay. Outside the limewashed walls and thatched roof are as trad as a workman’s pint, and inside the low-beamed ceilings and wooden floors have been sympathetically furnished with leather sofas and fresh flowers. The real story is in the kitchen. Darron ‘Bunny’ Bunn is the boss here, fresh from Michelin-starred stints at the Orestone Manor and, previously, the Greyhound in Stockbridge. Here he is once again using beautifully-sourced local ingredients to create inventive modern dishes to thrill the palate. Wife Hayley is front-of-house, so expect a seamlessly brilliant dining experience.
