Westward Ho!

Westward Ho! is a small village on the North Devon coast. It is named after local author (from Clovelly) Charles Kingsley's best seller book of the same name brought a lot of attention to the area. Some local developers wished to capitalise on this interest and developed the estate in 1860.

Westward Ho! is noted for its 2 miles long sandy beach that has a pebble ridge. The waves are such that it is popular amongst surfers. To cater for this demand, there are a number of apartments and other holiday accommodation.

Amongst its more famous residents were Rudyard Kipling who lived there in his early years.
